MultiChats or the official WhatsApp Business API?

IN SHORTThe WhatsApp Business API (now part of the WhatsApp Business Platform) is the route Meta approves: business-initiated messages need pre-approved templates and Meta charges per message. MultiChats links your existing WhatsApp by QR code, like WhatsApp Web: quicker to set up and no templates, but it isn't official and Meta can restrict a number that is misused.

What the API is good at

The API is built for scale and compliance: order updates, delivery notices, appointment reminders sent to thousands of people, integrations with your systems and many agents on one number. Because it's the official route, the risk to the number is low as long as you follow Meta's policies. We explain how it works and what it costs in the WhatsApp Business API guide.

What MultiChats does differently

MultiChats links each number as a linked device, so you keep using it on your phone, with your chats and contacts as they are. There are no templates to get approved: the AI agent writes a fresh reply to each message in your tone, sorts each contact and follows up when it's due. It's running the same day. Plans are on the pricing page.

QR linking is not the official WhatsApp Business API. Meta can restrict a number that sends messages in bulk. MultiChats works with daily caps, pauses between messages, varied wording and an automatic brake if messages stop being delivered, but the risk isn't zero and we tell you so before you start.

Our honest take

If you send thousands of transactional messages (order updates, reminders) or you're a larger company that can't accept any risk to its number, the official API is the right choice. If you're a business that sells through conversation on the number you already have, and you want an agent that sounds like you, MultiChats is faster to set up and simpler to run. We'd rather you pick the right tool than pick us.

Frequently asked questions

Is MultiChats an official WhatsApp partner?

No. MultiChats isn't a Meta Business Solution Provider and doesn't use the API. It links numbers by QR code, like WhatsApp Web.

Can I move from MultiChats to the API later?

Yes. Nothing stops you: if your volume grows into transactional messaging, moving to the API is the natural next step.

Which is cheaper?

It depends on volume. With the API you pay a provider plus Meta's per-message charges; MultiChats is a flat monthly price per number (€150, €500 or €800 excl. VAT).
